Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….

Cincinnati 3
Pittsburgh 5
WP: Maholm (1-1)
LP: Arroyo (0-1)
S: Dotel (3)

–Jay Bruce hit two homers.

–TOS* Five hits?

–Everything else goes into the negative column. I don’t have the time, energy, or enthusiasm to enumerate everything negative about this club right now.

–Our favorite baseball team just got swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Let that thought knock around in your head for a while and then see if you don’t feel like jumping off a bridge.

–The Reds have scored fifteen runs during this five game losing streak. That’s awful.

–I never imagined that we’d be less than two weeks into the season and I’d already be tired of writing these recaps. They didn’t get tedious last year until July. This team just isn’t fun to watch right now, and that’s a bad turn of events.

–The Cincinnati Reds just make me sad. I waste so much time on the Reds, writing about them, thinking about them, watching them. This organization has been a disaster for such a long time. I continue to have hopes that the Reds are going to have a good 2010 season — it’s still early, remember! — but the first exit polls are coming in, and the early returns aren’t pretty for the good guys.

It just makes me sad, that’s all.

*This Offense Stinks.
