NewsObserver.com has an interesting article about the Carolina Mudcats. Our Spotlight guys get a little pub…and Matt gets a nice picture:

First baseman Logan Parker could provide a little power for the Mudcats this season after a disappointing 2009 season when he batted .222 after hitting .281 the previous year between both levels of Class A.

“Last year was kind of a fluke, bad year,” Parker said. “I’ve got to learn from it and build from it.”

Matt Klinker, a 6-foot-5 right-hander, will lead the Mudcats’ rotation. He had a 2.95 ERA in six starts for the Mudcats last season and was even better in Louisville, where his ERA was 2.45 in five starts.

Next in the rotation are Daryl Thompson, Dallas Buck, Chris Cochran and Alexander Smit.

“It’s a very solid, balanced rotation,” Bell said.

Jordan Smith, who had a 3.44 ERA last season, will close most games.

Interesting to note that Jordan Smith is being moved to the closer role.
