Let’s take a brief trip around the interwebs, with some links compiled back at the former home office in Sarasota, Florida….
1. First things first: don’t forget to go listen to the latest episode of Redleg Nation Radio. It’s a season preview with Reds television broadcaster Chris Welsh, and it’s very good. While you’re at it, subscribe to the podcast via iTunes:
2. OMGreds is just back from Arizona, with some thoughts and photos. Good stuff.
3. I’ve often thought that Francisco Cordero and I are the same person. For example, we both want the Reds to make the postseason. That can’t be a coincidence, can it? Have you seen CoCo in the same room with me? Ever?
4. Bill commented on this yesterday, but has any player done more to improve their stock in the last 18 months than Logan Ondrusek? Cnati has a profile of the young guy here.
5. Shawn points us to John Sickels’ fairly optimistic look at Johnny Cueto. I loved this part:
[I]t looks like Cueto has a very good chance to be a very solid major league starter (which most of these guys were), a small chance to be a genuine superstar in the Greinke/Sabathia mode, and a relatively small chance to completely fail.
6. Mark Sheldon comments on the “Juan Francisco at 1B” trial. There are no other good young first-basemen in the Reds organization, are there? (Joking aside, it’s a good idea for the Reds to turn over all rocks to find a position Francisco can play.)
7. “Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.” Chris Sabo’s Goggles has hope.
