Check out C-Nati’s video of Aroldis Chapman’s first workout as a member of the Cincinnati Reds. Good stuff.

UPDATE: Ramon Hernandez, Walt Jocketty, and pretty much everyone else was impressed with what they saw out of Chapman today, according to Mark Sheldon’s report (which also includes the quotes Bill reported earlier).

It wouldn’t surprise me to see him start in AAA this year. I get the feeling he is really close to being ML ready.

The worst thing the Reds can do is rush a guy on a $30 million contract. From what reports I’ve seen, he needs work on his change up and other secondary pitches. It’s one thing to throw gas by people, but it’s another to pitch.

I’d rather him follow the path of Neftali Feliz. Let’s see what he does through the normal progression and bring him up out of the bullpen in September to face some MLB hitters.

David, I agree and have no problem with that. I just have a hunch that we’ll see him sooner than that in Cincy. Considering our lack of depth after our 1-4, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a look mid-season sometime.
