Hall of Famer Edd Roush starred for Reds during the 1910’s-20’s. Having grown up in western Indiana (Oakland City), Roush played 18 big league seasons, including starring in centerfield for the 1919 Reds World Champions. Here’s a quote I found in the bullpen session of baseball-reference.com.

“It was a business to me. It was no fun…I played the game to win, and when you play to win, you don’t play for fun.” – Edd Roush

Roush was elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1962.
