BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–This Bronson Arroyo may turn out to be a decent pitcher after all. Another fantastic start for the long-hair, going 7 innings, and giving up only 6 hits and one run. He struck out six and walked none. Wow.
–Fortunately, Jay Bruce is back, so Arroyo didn’t get saddled with another loss or no-decision after a good start. Bruce got a pinch-hit, two-run single to right in the 7th that gave the Reds and Arroyo the lead.
–Excellent work by Rhodes, Masset and CoCo out of the pen.
–The Reds only had 7 hits, and no one had more than one, but Brandon Phillips did hit another homer, his 20th.
NEGATIVES
–TOS
–Our manager is clueless. I’m tired — exhausted — of the day-to-day nonsense emanating from the Reds dugout.
–Juan Francisco made his major league debut tonight — that’s actually a positive, as I like the guy the more I see him. But guess what he did in his first AB as a big leaguer? You guessed it. K.
ETC.
–Welcome back, Jay Bruce! Redleg Nation has missed you.
–I’m glad Darnell McDonald is starting every game. It isn’t like the Reds have players they need to evaluate for next year.
–Finally, just because I liked the guy and I didn’t want to retire this image to the dustbin just yet:
