    Couple other things from the Louisville game…Alonso was immediately inserted into the starting lineup (#2 spot 0-4 with 2 Ks and a walk) and Wood and Frazier made two errors each. Frazier was playing 2B. Bruce was 0-3, but was lifted for a 33 year old outfielder named Lew Ford (who I have never heard of).

    @Bill Lack:
    I remember Lew. Played briefly, and quite well, for the Twins. He was considered a top prospect in the BoSox organization. A 5-tool guy, if memory serves. Then he just fell off the radar. Don’t know what happened. He will be an injury backup.

    Lew Ford had been playing in Japan. I can understand why he would be added to the AAA roster given all the injuries, but I don’t understand why he’s been playing more than Dorn.

    Yeah, I remember he had that one great year with the Twins and disappeared. I never knew what happened to him…but I don’t understand why he would play much at all.

    BTW, how many homers is that for Fransisco at L’Ville now? It seems like he hits one every game. I REALLY wish they could find him a position in the field he could play because he has some nice raw power (bad average, OBP though)

    Francisco’s peripherals aren’t as bad as you guys make them out to be. He’s struck out 120 times this year. That’s not terrible (almost all of the Rockies position guys haved K’d over 100 times), and will trend the right way in time. Last time I checked, 30 homer/100 rbi guys don’t grow on trees, especially ones making the ML minimum. Move him off third and his value skyrockets.

    I don’t care how many times he strikes out, an out is an out but his OBP is horrendous with no signs of improving and his defense is awful. He’s heavy and doesn’t move well, thus it would seem that OF is out of the question (long term), so that leaves 1B and the DH.
