BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Smilin’ side of the scoreboard! We haven’t seen a win in more than a week, so this is nice.

–Nice outing by Homer Bailey. 7.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR. He threw 111 pitches, 75 of them were strikes. Good command, for the most part, and he was throwing 97 late in the game. I still have high hopes for young Mr. Bailey.

–I love me some Jonny Gomes. Gomes had two more homers tonight, plus a walk in a 2-3 performance. I still cannot believe that Walt Jocketty took a chance on losing Gomes just so he could keep Darnell McDonald on the Opening Day roster. Gomes has been great.

–BP hit a 3-run homer that got the good guys going.

NEGATIVES
–TOS* I’ll definitely take the 6 runs, but the Reds still only had 5 hits. Something’s gotta give.

–Batting Willy Taveras and Alex Gonzalez 1-2 in a major league lineup should be grounds for immediate dismissal. It’s just sheer incompetence.

–Joey Votto was ejected for arguing balls and strikes again. I like Joey being fiery, but he has to be more careful than that. Votto needs to understand that he’s practically the only bat in the lineup. He can’t chance getting tossed. The Reds need him too much.

ETC.
–The six game losing streak is history. Thank goodness. I couldn’t take much more.

–Okay, I have it figured out. The Reds will win the next 10 games to put them at 2 games over .500 and back in the thick of things. It could happen. It’s not impossible.

–If he’s still a Red, Bronson Arroyo will be pitching tomorrow as the Reds attempt to extend their winning streak to two games.
