Triple – A

Louisville 7 – Durham 6; final 13

Drew Stubbs, Danny Dorn, and Chris Valaika each collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats in the Bats victory.  Stubbs had 2 singles and drew a walk, Dorn had 2 singles, 2 walks, and a run scored, while Valaika had a double, walk, 2 rbis and a run scored.  Kevin Barker managed only 1 hit, but it was his 17th homerun of the season.

The Bats used 8 different pitchers in this game, with the win going to SHORTSTOP Luis Bolivar.  Bolivar allowed 1 hit and struck out 1 in 1 inning pitched.  Luis is a perfect 1-0 on the season with a 0.00 ERA!

Double – A

Carolina 6 – Chattanooga 1

Carson Kainer lifted his average to .302 on the season thanks to a 3-4 day at the plate.  Kainer scored a run and drove in 2.  Stephen Chapman went 2-3 with a walk, double, and 2 runs scored.  Juan Francisco had a single and 2 rbis, giving him 49 rbis on the season.

Travis Wood bumped his record to 9-3 on the season thanks to 7 scoreless innings pitched in this game.  Wood allowed 4 hits and struck out 8 in the win.  His ERA is now 1.21 on the season.

Class A Advanced

Clearwater 4 – Sarasota 0

Neftali Soto went 2-4 with 2 singles and Jake Long was a perfect 2-2 at the dish with a walk.  Long and Soto accounted for 4 of the Reds 5 hits in the loss.

Jeremy Horst fell to 5-10 on the season with the loss.  Horst allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out 4 over 5 innings pitched.  Horst’s ERA is at 3.32, not bad for a guy with a 5-10 record.

Single – A

Dayton 6 – Beloit 4

8 different Dragons collected a hit in this one, with Carlos Mendez being the only player to collect 2 hits.  Mendez went 2-4 with a double, triple, rbi, and a run scored.  Josh Fellhauer and Tony Brown each homered in the win.  It was Fellhauer’s 1st homerun of the season, while Brown hit his 2nd of the season.

Matt Fairel picked up the win by going 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7.  Fairel is now 7-5 on  the season  with a 3.04 earned run average.

Rookie Leagues

GCL Reds 3 – GCL Red Sox 0

This game managed just 6 total hits between the two teams, luckily, the Reds had 4 of those and collected the win.  Theodis Bowe went 2-4 with a double and a run scored to lead the offensive charge.  Carter Morrison added a triple and an rbi to the winning effort.

Reds starter Tyler Cline pitched 6 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk in 6 innings pitched.  Cline is now 2-0 in 5 starts with a 1.00 ERA.  He has not been scored upon in 3 of his 5 starts this season, allowing just 3 runs in 27 innings pitched.

Ogden 5 – Billings 4

Sean Conner had a great game, going 2-4 with 2 homeruns, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.  The long balls were Conner’s first 2 of the season.  Joshua Garton hit his 2nd homerun of the season in a 1-3 game. Garton also scored twice in the loss.

Justin Walker dropped to 0-3 on the season with the loss.  Walker allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.  He also allowed 3 homeruns in 4.1 innings pitched.  His ERA is now at 5.76 on the season.
