Games played on 7/18/09:

AAA
Durham 3 – Louisville 2 (16 innings)

Stubbs, Valaika, and Heisey (hitting 1,2,3) went a combined 1-21 (yikes!). 1B Kevin Barker went 3-4 with a double and homer. McDonald went 2-6 with a double.

The Bats got good pitching (Jukich 8 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 6 ks (though 2 homers), scoreless innings from Burton, Stewart, and Roenicke (actually 2/3)…Pettyjohn takes the hardluck loss, throwing 4 1/3, giving up 5 hits, but the unearned winning run had reached base on an error by Chris Valaika.

Game 1: Chattanooga 11 – Carolina 2

Sean Henry was 2-2 and Todd “Why am I still in AA” Frazier was 2-4 (.315/.370/.504).
Chris Kelly threw 2 scoreless innings, the rest of the Mudcats bullpen was kicked around pretty good, including Jerry Gil, who gave up 4 runs (3 hits and 4 walks) in 2/3 of an inning.

Game 2: Carolina 2 – Chattanooga 1

No Mudcat had more than one hit, though Frazier had a double. Tom Cochrane threw 5 innings (2 hits, 1 unearned run) and Valiquette and Ondrusek threw scoreless 6th and 7th innings to get the hold and save.

Sarasota 4 – Clearwater 3 (12 innings)

Jake Kahaulelio was 3-5, Dave Sappelt had two hits (double), as did DH Jason Bour (double). Devin Mesoraco was 1-5 but hit his 6th homer.

Scott Carroll continues to pitch effectively, coming back from suspension. He threw 8 innings, allowing 7 hits and two runs, no walks, no strikeouts. Justin Freeman picked up his first win of the year with 3 scoreless innings of relief (2 hits, 5 k’s).

Dayton 6 – Beloit 4

SS Miguel Rojas was 4-4 (.469 in last 10 games) and Lance Janke threw 7 innings allowing only one run (homer) on 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5.

Ogden 8 – Billings 2

19 year old Mariekson Gregorius raised his average at Billings to .421, going 2-5. Forest Cannon threw a scoreless 7th, striking out 2.

GCL

GCL Reds 11 – GCL Orioles 5

C Danny Vicioso was 3-5 with a double and homer, Theodis Bowe went 2-3 with 2 walks, Juan Duran went 2-5, as did Cristobal Rodriguez, Jefry Sierra was 2-3 with 2 walks.

Tzu-Kai Chui picked up the win with 4 innings of 1 run, 2 hits (1 walk, 6 strikeouts) relief.
