Norfolk 5 – Louisville 1

Kevin Barker went 2-3 and hit his 8th homerun of the season to supply the only offense for the Bats in the loss.  Wes Bankston had 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

Ben Jukich allowed all 5 Norfolk runs in the start.  Jukich allowed the 5 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings pitched.  Jukich struck out 6 and is now 4-3 on the season.

Double – A

Carolina 2 – West Tennessee 0

This game was called after 5 due to weather. Yonder Alonso had 1 of the 2 Mudcats hits and it was a big one.  Alonso’s hit was a 2 run homer, his first homerun at the Double – A level.

Tom Cochran pitched all 5 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and a walk while striking out 5.

Class A Advanced

Sarasota 7 – Lakeland 3

Denis Phipps had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, including a 3-run homer.  The homer was Phipps’ 5th of the season. Jason Bour went 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored for the Reds. Kel Jones was hitless in 3 at-bats, but did manage to produce 2 RBIs.

Luis Montano improved to 5-6 on the season with the win. Montano allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and a walk while striking out 3 over 5 innings of work.

Single – A

Lansing 11 – Dayton 2

Michael Konstanty went 2-3 and hit his first homerun of the season.  The homerun was a 2 run shot and supplied the offense for the Dragons.  Konstanty had 2 of the 3 Dayton hits in the game.

As bad as the offense was, the pitching wasn’t any better as the Dragons allowed 11 runs in the first 6 innings.
