Let’s take a trip around the internets….

–Dusty Baker moved Jay Bruce up in the order last night, ostensibly to allow the big guy to see better pitches. I think it was a good move by Dusty.

–John Fay has some good quotes from Bronson Arroyo about last night’s titanic struggle. Fay also practically confirms what we’ve all suspected: Matt Maloney will take Edinson Volquez’s next start. Good for Maloney. He’s earned it.

–Good description by Mark Sheldon of the road trip thus far:

This really isn’t the way the Reds planned for this trip to go. A 5-2 loss has given them four losses in five games on the road trip through beer towns Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Along the way, they’ve lost Joey Votto (stress), Edinson Volquez (elbow tendinitis), Jerry Hairston Jr. (stomach bug) and Willy Taveras (right hamstring). Brandon Phillips (thumb) missed most of the first game.

Over at RR, Slyde accuses A*** D*** of witchcraft.

–Dusty isn’t very worried about Joey Votto. That’s comforting, because I’m certainly worried.

–A good description of last night’s game.

–It was good to hear Chris Welsh and George Grande discuss Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Logan Parker on the television broadcast last night.

–Don’t miss the latest episode of Redleg Nation Radio, where Bill and I discussed all sorts of dumb stuff.

Surely not.

–New Dave Matthews Band album is out. Mine should arrive today.

Bruce might be pressing too much trying to take up the slack with Votto being out. Moving him up in the lineup may or may not work but at least Dusty’s open to trying things to help with the problem.

The part I heard, they were questioning what it meant for Logan’s playing time with Alonso on the AA roster.

Wow, an Adam Dunn curse. Maybe it applies to more than LF, as in we won’t win a WS for the next 100 years.

Granted this road trip has been a forgettable one, but we are with 2 games to go still just 2.5 games out of 1st place, so lets take that silver lining and finish this road trip on a good note. The rest of June looks pretty good with WSH, KC, CLE and some .500 clubs in ATL and CWS. July looks brutal, so dont look, focus on June.

Yeah, Jason things definately could be worse and it’s not time to panic. But Wow, we could be all alone in first right now too.

The thing to remember is that Chicago, StL, and Milwaukee have been hurt by injury too. Have you seen the guys they’ve been sending out there? Ankiel and Ludwick are back, and we should see Hardin, Bradley and eventually Glaus and Aramis back.

My point is that everyone could arguably be better than they are right now.

It would be nice to salvage the last couple of games here. Even if we split these two, I’ll take it considering the players we have out. Everyone needs to get healthy!!

I see Taveras is down to a .318 OBP. In line with last year. Not sure it was a good signing.

When is Taveras going to start bunting more? Am I just imaging he doesn’t try to bunt for hits anymore?

BigRedMike – it wasn’t a good signing. And his biggest asset is now injured. He’s out of the starting lineup again tonight in favor of Dickerson.

Please use the DL for Taveras. He needs his legs fresh and healthy to have ANY value to this team.

“I’ll back you up” on the DMB Chad. So-so on the album. Usually takes a few listens though.

I hated the signing of Taveras. I was hoping he would be ok, but, he is reverting back to his bad play of 2008. Maybe when he gets the injury healed, he will improve.
