Triple – A

Lousiville 3 – Scranton W/B 0; final 11

Wilkin Castillo went 2-5 with one of those hits being the big blow.  In the botto of the 11th, Castillo belted a 3-run homer which accounted for the only scoring in the game.  Drew Stubbs went 3-5 in the contest with his 10th double of the season.  Stubbs is now batting .329/.409/.451 at Louisville with 10 doubles, 8 rbis, 11 walks, 18 strikeouts, and 10 stolen bases.

Ramon Ramirez pitched great in the start, going 8 innings of shutout baseball.  He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3.

Double – A

Carolina had the day off.

Class A Advanced

Sarasota had the day off.

Single – A

Kane County 18 – Dayton 3

Frank Pfister went 2-4 with a double and an rbi while Byron Wiley went 1-3 with a solo homerun.  The homerun was Wiley’s first of the season.

The pitching for the Dragons was just flat out ugly.  The club only used 3 pitchers with each allowing at least 4 runs.

What is the latest word on Stubbs? I have heard alternatively that he was ready for the bigs in everything but batting. His defense was already good and his speed was major league caliber, but he still needed to put it together at the plate.

Is he still seen as an outfield anchor of the future in CF or LF? Is he a potential top of the order guy? If he’s ready now or very soon, would he be a possible LF and number 2 hitter this season, replacing Taveras in CF after next season if Frazier comes up to play LF or Alonso moves Votto there?
