Time for a recap of tonight’s titanic struggle….

FINAL — 14 innings
Cincinnati 2
Florida 3
WP: Badenhop (2-1)
LP: Herrera (0-1)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Aaron Harang wasn’t particularly sharp tonight, but he battled his way through seven innings, giving up only 2 runs. At times, it appeared he was doing it with smoke and mirrors, but that’s why Harang is so valuable. He doesn’t have to have his good stuff to help this team.

–David Weathers continues to be my hero. Nick Masset and Jared Burton, too. Great outings by those guys out of the pen tonight in the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th innings. Heck, Mike Lincoln scared us to death, but even he eventually delivered. Good stuff.

–Burton has a great pickoff move.

NEGATIVES
–TOS*

–With all the talk about HAVOC!, why is Dusty scared to death to try to swipe a base every now and then? Tonight would’ve been a good night to try to manufacture a run or two, with a great starter on the mound for the Marlins, but Dusty wouldn’t pull the trigger. (I know, poor manager can’t catch a break with me. 🙂 )

–Alex Gonzalez got hurt. Yeah, it was probably inevitable, but you hate to see that. Hopefully, we’ll get an update soon.

ETC.
–How very disappointing.

–Evidently, Lance McAlister used the HAVOC meme on the radio today, which originated here at RN, of course. This is becoming a regular occurrence.

(Lance does a great job, and I don’t want to imply that he stole the meme from RN (as was suggested in yesterday’s game thread). I know for a fact that he wasn’t aware that the whole thing originated here when he mentioned it. It’s a fun little acronym, and we don’t own it. I wouldn’t object, of course, if he wanted to mention Redleg Nation on the radio 🙂 but it’s not a necessity.)

–Regis was in the booth today with the Marlins broadcasters. I can’t wait to see Kathy Lee in the booth with George Grande soon. That’ll be Must See TV.

–The Marlins had some great hecklers sitting behind home plate.

–If nothing else, great game thread tonight.
