Louisville 6 – Toledo 0

Wes Bankston went 2 for 4 with a HR. Kevin Barker went 1 for 3, adding another HR plus a BB. Norris Hopper tripled on a 2 for 5 night. Jonny Gomes is heating up; he went 1 for 2 with a HR and 2 BB. Adam Rosales doubled.

Sam LeCure had a great outing; he got the win, going 6.2 IP allowing 0 R, on 3 H and 2 BB with 6 K. Pedro Viola (1.1 IP) and Robert Manuel (1 IP) completed the shutout.


Tennessee 5 – Carolina 0

Chris Kroski went 1 for 3 with a BB.

Dallas Buck took the loss after going 6.2 IP, allowing 5 R, 3 ER, on 12 H and no BB with 4 K. Ramon Geronimo (.1 IP) and Derrik Lutz (1 IP) tossed scoreless relief.

High A

Sarasota 4 – Palm Beach 3

Devin Mesoraco went 2 for 3 with a HR and a BB. Yonder Alonso went 1 for 3 with a 2B and a BB. Neftali Soto doubled.

Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Matt Klinker took a no-decision, going 4.2 IP while allowing 3 R on 6 H and 2 BB with 2 K. Logan Ondrusek (2.1 IP), Joseph Krebs (1 IP), and Ben Davis (1 IP) all threw scoreless relief. Krebs got the win and Davis the save.

Low A

South Bend 9 – Dayton 3

Byron Wiley went 2 for 3 with a 2B. Jose Gualdron and Cody Puckett each doubled.

Leonardo Astorga dropped to 0-3 on the year with a 18.90 ERA as he went 4 IP, allowing 7 R, on 9 H and no BB with 1 K. Jordan Hotchkiss tossed a scoreless innning of relief.

    The minor league bats are warming up, especially at Louisville. Counting Hairston, we have 6 outfieders. It seems to me that bringing up Rosales and sending down McDonald is something we could do right away. Rosales would give us a RH bat off the bench and could fill in for EE and Philipps, both of whom could use it.

    Beyond that. there’s Bankston and Gomes. If Dickerson doesn’t pick it up real soon, I’d consider demoting him for one of these two. Does anyone know anything about Bankston ? I see he was in the PCL last year.
