Games played on April 21
Triple – A
Homer Bailey picked up his first win and made his best start of the season.  Bailey allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings of work.  Obviously that is still way too many base runners for Bailey to be successful, but compared to his first two starts of the season, this is an improvement.
The Bats did not generate a lot of offense.  Wes Bankston went 1-3 and drove in 2 rbis to help give the Bats the win.
Double – A
Travis Wood pitched outstanding for the Mudcats.  Unfortunately two unearned runs ruined the outing. Wood allowed 2 unearned runs on 1 hit and 3 walks and picked up the loss for Carolina.  Wood struck out 3 in 6.2 innings of work.  Travis is 0-2 with a 0.57 ERA.
Carolina only managed 4 hits themselves and 2 of those came off the bat of Todd Frazier.  Frazier went 2-3 with a double and a run scored.
Class A Advanced
A big night for some of the young, Reds hitters in this one.  Yonder Alonso went 3-4 with a homerun, 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 4 rbis.  Alonso raised his average to .250 with his 3 hit night.  Justin Reed went 2-4 in the game for the Reds and drew a walk.  Reed had a triple and scored 3 times for the Reds in the win.
Single – A
Frank Pfister went 3-4 to lead the Dragons in hits. Pfister had 2 singles, a double, and scored 2 runs in the loss. Dave Sappelt and Tony Brown had two hits apiece in the game. Sappelt had a triple, scored a run, and knocked in 2 rbis while Brown had 2 singles, scored a run, and drove in 2 as well.
Matt Fairel had an amazing start and deserved to get the win. Fairel pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 12! The 12 K’s for Fairel are now 75% of his season total of 16.
