From John Fay:

–The Reds are hopeful that Jonny Gomes will go to Triple-A. “I think he will,” Jocketty said. “I talked to his agent yesterday when we were talking about doing it. I hope he does.”

The Reds released Jacque Jones, so he is not at Triple-A.

–The Reds are at 40-man limit after adding Nix and McDonald. They were at 38 after trading Jeff Keppinger and outrighting Norris Hopper ot Louisville.

and on Gomes going to AAA:

The Reds cut Jonny Gomes. He has an offer to go to Triple-A

“I’m not sure,” he said.

Gomes seemed like a semi-lock to make it.

“I’m a little surprised,” he said. “I had a good spring. I played left, right. I went to first base with open arms. But it didn’t work out. They can’t keep everybody.”
