Some quick hitters that don’t merit their own full post….

Gary Sheffield is a Met, not a Red. That’s good news.

–Congrats to Reds beat writer Mark Sheldon and his wife on the birth of a healthy baby boy. If you missed our talk with Mark on Redleg Nation Radio, go here to listen to it. He’s a great guy, and we hope to have him back on the podcast very soon.

FanGraphs asks whether the Reds can surprise this year (tip of the cap to RR)

–Everyone’s second-favorite baseball website (Redleg Nation is tops on that list, right? Right?) has re-launched with their long-anticipated redesign. Looks great; B-R only gets better and better.

–Check out the sweet new High Definition scoreboard — here’s more information about it — that will be featured at Great American Ballpark beginning this season (click to see the larger version):

Those of you who are attending Opening Day need to let us know how that bad boy looks in person.

Sheffield not being a Red is for the best. After all, I promised friends I would go on a hunger strike if he signed with the team. Luckily, I will remain well-nourished.

    Congrats to Mark!

And wow, that scoreboard looks awesome! I can’t wait to go to a game and check it out myself. Hopefully, someone can get RLN some good pictures of it from Opening Day.

I like the new out of town scoreboard in the left field wall as well. I’m lookind forward to seeing what they’re going to do with that.

I am glad the Reds didn’t sign Sheff, we will see how big of a potential problem he will be with the Mets because he isn’t getting anymore than a platoon there either.

Just when I thought the Mets might actually be putting it all together, they go and sign Sheffield.

    Good.
