In one of the best baseball games I have seen in quite a while, the Netherlands knocks off the heavily favored Dominican team 2-1 in 11 innings.

If you watched this game, feel free to comment about it.  I will openly admit, I was pulling for the underdog Dutch team.  I, like most, gave the Dutch no shot.  Once Reyes scored in the top half of the 11th, I assumed it was over.  But the Dutch battled back to score 2 in the bottom half of the 11th off of Cubbie Carlos Marmol. If I recall correctly from the other night, Marmol was hesitant to join the Dominican team for fear of losing his role as closer with the Cubs.  This could not have helped his case of keeping that position.

For all of us Reds fans, I guess this means Cueto and Volquez will be reporting to Reds camp a lot sooner than most expected.

I was definitely rooting for the underdog, and I’m really glad to be able to see Sulbaran throw at least once or twice more against top competition.

It’ll also be good to have Volquez and Cueto back under the watchful, arm-protecting eye of Dusty Baker 🙂

It was great Baseball. I would say it equates to a 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament making the Sweet 16.
It is why baseball is the greatest game because that really couldn’t happen in most other sports.

It does realy show the undisciplined approach that is played in Carribean baseball and explains why OBP and conservative situational baseball is not always the case.
