I finally got a chance to see “The Wrestler” yesterday. Now, I don’t know a thing about wrestling, and I’ve never seen a single professional wrestling match in my life, but this was a superb movie.

Just a fantastic film, in every respect. Not quite as good as “Slumdog Millionaire”, much better than “Benjamin Button”. If you like movies, you gotta see this one.

Yeah, it was fantastic. I didn’t see Milk, but it’s hard for me to believe that Roark didn’t deserve to win best actor.

I saw Milk and the Wrestler. And agree with Penn winning. The best argument I’ve heard for why is that, while they gave equally fantastic performances, Penn played an entirely different person, where as Rourke played himself in The Mickey Rourke Story. (I do love The Wrestler, for the record.)

    Agreed.

Yet Gran Torino has something special, no?

In efffect: This movie is THE greatest wake-up call to Asian-American/white relations in existence.

My point is: We should all be ahamed for not joining the cause!

I enjoyed The Wrestler immensely. Haven’t seen Milk yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed (mailed my Netflix back today and that usually means new releases).

Saw it last nite, great movie, the role of a lifetime for Rourke. Probably not as much fun for him as making Wild Orchid was.
It was relentlessly depressing in that you could see just where it was going from the beginning: that doesn’t make it any less of a great movie, but limited my enjoyment.
