Redleg Nation would like to congratulate our Minor League Players of the Month for August 2008.
Hitter: Kevin Barker
Barker, a 33-year-old Southwest Virginia boy (like me), had a wonderful month of August as the 1B for the AAA Louisville Bats. Barker hit .288, with an OBP of .412 and an SLG of .613. He slugged seven homers, drove in 19 runs, scored another 16 runs, and added 5 doubles and 19 BBs to boot. I wish he’d gotten a September callup, you know, just because….
Pitcher: Ramon Ramirez
Ramirez, the 25 year-old Venezuelan right-hander who is now with the big club, was dominant for AAA Louisville in August. Ramirez posted a 2-1 record in five games started, with an ERA of 1.38 and a K/BB ratio of 30/14.
