The most encouraging thing I find so far with Dickerson is that he is will to take a walk. He has 9 so far, which is good for 13th on the team. He has done that in 16 games. Project those over the 136 games that the Reds have played and he would be 2nd on the team to Dunn’s 80. That’s what a leadoff hitter is supposed to do.

Based on the last couple of month’s performance, Arroyo is due to get blasted today. He has been going two good starts followed by a bad one since June 24 in Toronto.

Even if Arroyo pitches well Dusty has the Bako/Patterson combo in today so you know what that means for an offense. How has this man made it to major league managing? And has a winning record? Prior to this year any how,

The way Dusty has managed to screw up this year, he won’t have a winning record for long.

This year will make Baker’s 3rd straight losing season.

  6. mhopp

Well, now that the offense is doing well I guess it’s time for Arroyo to give up some runs.

Question: Did the Reds pay $2 million for the rights to trade Dunn?

THis half inning should be over quickly

  9. mhopp

Gee, sure glad Dusty didn’t put the so far HR hitting, clutch batting throwing out young catcher in Hannigan in there! Good quality at-bat by Bako! 🙄

I sure hope Votto can get his BA over .300 and hit some HR’s so he gets the ROY instead of Soto…who was a nobody in the Minors.

Does anyone really take Baker’s knowledge seriously? I mean, any time he likes a player I tend to doubt their abilities…it must be an insult to any player who he mentions as I know I’m not alone with this opinion of Dusty.

Thank God we have Arroyo in the line up!

The inning might still be alive if Bako knew how to slide. Isn’t the main concept of a slide to get your body as low as possible?

Is it bad that I’m hoping beyond all hope that Patterson finishes below .200?

Probably but I won’t want to see him back and I want Dusty Baker’s input on player acquisitions totally discredited. His job is to manage the team he is given.

I think this three game sweep of the Giants officially passes the title of worst team in the NL from the Reds to the Giants. That is one bad pitching staff.

If Walt gave Dusty a roster full of rookies … he would turn in an empty lineup card every game

  18. Y-City Jim

No, he would have to play them but he would make it clear that it wasn’t “his” team.

Of course it wouldn’t have been a sweep if Bochy hadn’t insanely pushed Lincecum for 130 pitches his last outing.

Sorry but outside of playing Patterson, I find no fault in how Dusty has managed this year. He has allowed the young players to play and play through struggles, he has kept a tight control on both our young pitchers. The playing of Patterson while stupid is not the reason this team is where it is.

    A sonnet to Corey:

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.

The win is nice, I suppose…but I’m much more excited that Corey Patterson is back below .200! 😀
