September 7, 1986: Sal Butera, the Reds backup catcher, pitches an inning and retires 3 of the 4 Cubs batters he faces in an 11-3 loss at Riverfront Stadium. Dave Parker connected for his 2,000 career hit in the game, a single off Greg Maddux.

Parker had another tremendous year in 1986. He hit 31 homers, drove in 116 runs, and batted .272.
