Here’s a game thread. Hope Volquez can keep the brooms from emerging this afternoon.

  2. Y-City Jim

Some crap about him having not swung a bat since he left on leave.

  3. Phill

It does make sense though Jim.

He’ll probably be back in Chicago.

Listening to Dusty pre-game. Reading between the lines of his comments, it sounds as if they were anticipating the bad outing by Harang.

  6. Y-City Jim

Ludwick is that rare case where a hitter was able to become more patient.

  7. Phill

Great to see Dickerson get a hit. Pinero made him look silly all of yesterday.

  8. Y-City Jim

8 pitch inning, three ground ball outs.

I’d love to see that all day from V.

  9. Phill

Was that a 9 pitch inning?

I agree, I’d love to see this from Volquez all day. Nice quick outs.

  10. Y-City Jim

No-hitter to the wayside but shutout intact.

  11. Y-City Jim

Now this is the team I would like to see teh Reds clear the bench against.

  12. Buddy

Is Eric Davis working for the Reds? It looks like he is suited up and in the dugout..

  13. Fire Dusty NOW

Why was BP trying to steal 3rd with 2 outs? He cost us a run there by getting picked off.

  14. Fire Dusty NOW

94 MPH in the kidney. Ouch.

  15. Buddy

Should be 4-0…my kid made me switch to the Olympics so i missed the Lopez HBP…

  16. Buddy

uh, why did Hairston come out of the game?

  17. Phill

We’ll probably find out after the game why he came out. Could be anything really.

  18. Kevin

Bummer that Volquez didn’t get to go 8 after finishing seven with 90+ pitches. I guess they’re right to keep protecting him this late in the season, though. So glad the guy seems to be back on track.

  19. Y-City Jim

Hairston likely came out so Patterson could play.

I’m surprised that V didn’t get tossed for hitting Lopez.

  20. Y-City Jim

Patterson on a walk spree here lately. Two walks in three games. What’s the world coming to?

  21. Phill

Dear Dusty, quit putting Cordero into non-save situations.

  22. AnnapolisRed

This is only his seventh appearance in August. If they only use him in save situations he will never get to pitch.

  23. Phill

    Good point…

Dear Reds, start winning games and letting Cordero get saves.

  24. Kevin

    That’s pretty unrealistic….

I saw this funny line in the mlb.com recap of today’s game:

“It’s difficult to highlight many positives. But Edinson Volquez has shined like a beacon in the abyss.”

  25. Dunner was cool

i hear votto didnt play because he wasnt emotionally ready
