August 4, 1869: The Red Stockings pull off a triple play in their 37-9 trouncing of the Central Citys of Syracuse on Union Grounds. In the second inning, with runners on first and second, George Wright caught a fly and threw to first to double off the runner. Charlie Gould then threw home to nail the runner trying to score from second for a 6-3-2 triple play.
