Wow. I’ve never seen anything like that.
The Home Run Derby is usually uninteresting; the best home run hitters are never in the contest. I mean, Grady Sizemore and Dan Uggla are fine players (I’d love to have Sizemore on the Reds), but they just aren’t traditional sluggers. Fans want to see the Ryan Howards and Adam Dunns in the HR Derby.
Last night, however, Josh Hamilton put on a show that caused my jaw to drop to the floor. Just amazing.
The only bad note of the night was that ESPN inflicted the miserable Rick Reilly on its audience. That guy is just terrible. Let him stick to writing in ESPN The Magazine where I can safely avoid him.
Anyway, kudos to Josh Hamilton. We still love you in Redleg Nation, big guy.
