The Bats managed just three singles in the game. Ryan Hanigan was 2 for 3. Jolbert Cabrera had the other single.
Homer Bailey couldn’t find the plate and takes the loss going 5 IP allowing 4 R, 4 H, and 6 BB while striking out four batters. Bailey tossed 99 pitches and just 50 of them for strikes as his ERA for the season rose to 3.88. Jim Brower and Todd Coffey each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The guy who should be playing CF in Cincinnati but who is instead waiting in Louisville for enough games to pass by so he won’t be Super 2 arbitration eligible down the road went 2 for 3 with his 9th HR. Jay Bruce is now hitting .364/.395/.669/1.064. Adam Rosales played SS and had a 2B.
Justin Mallett started and pitched 4 IP giving up 0 R, 3 H, 0 BB with 4 K. Four scoreless innnings won’t get him the win though, that went to Gary Majewski who tossed the 5th inning and gave up a run on a hit and 2 BB. Danny Herrera gets the final out for his 2nd save.
Eric Eymann goes 3 for 4 with a 2B. Tonys Gutierrez was 2 for 4 and is now hitting .354/.475/.472/.947 on the season. Jerry Gil had a 2B.
Ramon Ramirez gets hit hard over 4 IP allowing 6 R, 5 ER, 8 H, and a walk recording 6 K. Justin James and Robert Manuel each put in a scoreless innning of relief.
Six Sarasota batters put get multiple hits. Todd Frazier was 2 for 4 with 2 HR. Dan Dorn went 3 for 5 with a HR and a 2B. Justin Tordi goes 3 for 4 with a 2B. Michael DeJesus and Chris Louwsma were 2 for 5. Chris Heisey was 3 for 5.
Jordan Smith gets the win going 6 IP giving up 6 R, 5 ER on 8 H and one walk while striking out 5 batters. Steve Otterness and Sean Watson both pitched and inning plus of scoreless relief. Watson gets his 8th save.
The Dragons manage just two hits in the game. Brandon Waring singled and Redlegnation Spotlight Player Logan Parker hit his 3rd HR.
Scott Carroll gets no decision after going 6 IP giving up 2 R on 7 H and a BB while getting 3 K. Terrell Young blows a save giving up the tying run in the 8th and Raymond Jeffords takes the loss allowing 2 R in the 9th.
