Norfolk 4 – Louisville 1

Homer Bailey gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings pitched to pick up his 3rd loss of the season and drop to 4-3 overall.  Bailey struck out 7 on a night in which he threw 112 pitches, 71 of which were for strikes.  In his last 3 starts, Bailey has gone 20 innings, allowed 11 earned runs on 18 hits and 8 walks.  He’s struck out 23.

Jay Bruce led the team with 2 hits in 4 at-bats on the night.  Jolbert Cabrera went 1-3 with a walk and a solo homerun, his 2nd homerun of the season.

Tennessee 6 – Chattanooga 1

Sam Lecure allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings pitched to fall to 1-2 on the season.  Lecure has been plagued by the walk this season.  Sam has allowed 22 free passes in 31.1 innings pitched.  He has struck out 23 over that same span and posts a lofty 6.32 ERA.

Eric Eymann went 2-4 for the Lookouts to lead the team in hits.  Tonys Gutierrez went 1-3 with a walk and drove in the lone Lookouts run.

Palm Beach 2 – Sarasota 1

Sheesh!  Three games in which the Reds farm system scored a combined 3 runs.  In this one, the Reds managed just 3 hits and were led by Juan Francisco who went 1-3 with a double and rbi to contribute nearly all of the Reds offense.

The pitching was great.  Jordan Smith gave up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 2 over 8 innings.  Smith picked up a no decision as Palm Beach would score in the 9th for the win.  The start by Smith lowered his ERA to 1.52 in 47.1 innings pitched.  He has allowed 41 hits and 5 walks while striking out 31 in that span.  His record remains at 5-1.

Dayton 9 – Quad City 2

Finally some offense!  Justin Reed went a perfect 4-4 from the plate, hitting a homerun and a double.  He added an rbi and 3 runs scored.  Denis Phipps went 3-4 in the game with a double and 3 rbis.  Todd Frazier went 2-3 and scored twice while Brandon Waring went 1-3 with a homerun, run scored, and 4 rbis.

Curtis Partch picked up his first win of the season by allowing 1 unearned run on 5 hits while striking out 4.
