August 22, 1979: Johnny Bench breaks Frank Robinson’s club career home run record with his 325th lifetime homer in a 7-2 win over the Expos at Riverfront Stadium.

The game was interrupted in the 6th inning when a pair of bats (the winged variety) landed on the field just beyond shortstop and had to be removed by a number of the Reds grounds crew.
