Louisville 6 – Norfolk 4 (final 8; Game 1)

In game 1 of the double header, Jay Bruce went 1-4 with a solo homerun. Bruce has now hit 6 homeruns at the AAA level and has 21 for the season in the minors. He is batting .305/.374/.610 in Louisville.

Jason Kershner got the start and went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 2. Gary Majewski picked up his 4th save by pitching a scoreless 8th inning.

Norfolk 1 – Louisville 0 (final 7; Game 2)

In game 2, the Bats never got the offense rolling. Jorge Cantu went 2-3 in the game, accounting for 2 of the Bats 5 hits.

Steven Kelly picked up the loss by going 4.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.

Chattanooga 7 – Jacksonville 4

Craig Tatum and Michael Griffin both went 3-5 in the game with 2 runs scored. Tatum also added 2 runs batted in to his total. Drew Anderson and Luis Bolivar each went 2-4 on the night. Bolivar had a double, and Anderson had 2. Last night must have been “Move your 2b Night” for the Reds farm system. Luis is listed as playing RF in this game. In the Louisville game, Cantu was listed as playing 1b.

James Avery got back to .500 on the season (9-9) by allowing 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched. Pedro Viola continues his trek through the farm system. Viola pitched a scoreless inning last night, making him perfect in 3 outings for Chattanooga. Viola has already posted a 1.87 ERA in Dayton and a 0.90 ERA in Sarasota this season. Carlos Guevara picked up his 15th save by pitching a scoreless 9th.

Sarasota versus Dunedin was postponed.

Dayton 2 – Wisconsin 1

Neither team had much offense going, each recording just 5 hits. However, the Dragons pushed a run across in the bottom of the 9th inning to capture the 1-run victory. Keltavious Jones made his debut with the Dragons one to remember. Jones had a pinch hit double in the 9th inning that scored the winning run. Other notables on the night include Drew Stubbs who was 1-3 with a triple and Justin Turner who was 1-4 with a double.

Ramon Geronimo picked up the win by recording the final 5 outs of the game, 4 coming via the strikeout.

Missoula 9 – Billings 7

Brett Bartles went 2-4 with a homerun, run scored, and 2 runs batted in. Michael McKennon went 4-5 with a double, run scored and an rbi. Jason Bour went 3-5 on the night and Justin Reed also made his first AB with his new club a good one by hitting a homerun in a pinch hit effort.

Redleg Nation’s spotlight player Matt Klinker struggled in his relief effort by allowing 3 runs on 4 hits over 3 innings of relief.

GCL Reds versus the GCL Pirates was postponed.
