Durham 11 – Louisville 0

The Bats only managed 3 hits compared to the Bulls 16 so there isn’t much to comment on offensively.

Same can be said on the pitching side. Tom Shearn allowed 9 runs on 10 hits and a walk over 4.2 innings to get the loss. On a positive note, everyone’s favorite reliever, Gary Majewski, pitched a scoreless inning, allowing just 1 hit and striking out a batter.

Chattanooga 5 – Birmingham 0

A total opposite for the Reds minor leagues in this one. The Lookouts tallied 11 hits while the Barons managed just 3. Enrique Cruz led the charge by going 3-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 rbis. Drew Anderson went 2-5 with 2 runs scored and Jay Garthwaite added 2 hits in 4 at-bats with a double and an rbi.

Carlos Fisher improved to 3-5 on the season with Chattanooga by pitching 7 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 8. This was a great outing for Fisher who had really been struggling over his past 5 appearances. Carlos Guevara pitched a shaky 9th, allowing 2 hits with a strikeout. Guevara has 10 saves on the season and has allowed just 1 run over his last 10 innings pitched.

Sarasota 3 – Clearwater 1

Daniel Dorn added an insurance run in the 7th inning when he hit his 12th homerun of the season. Dorn went 2-4 on the night with the run scored and rbi. Michael DeJesus’s 2 rbi single in the 6th inning brought the Reds back from a 1-0 deficit to give them the lead. DeJesus ended the night 1-4.

Ruben Medina lowered his ERA to 1.89 by pitching 3 scoreless innings in relief for the Reds. Medina allowed 1 hit and struck out 1. In 47.2 innings pitched, Medina has allowed 37 hits and 22 walks. That’s a high walk total for a guy coming out of the pen. Derrik Lutz recorded his 13th save of the season by pitching a scoreless 9th. Lutz also appears to be living dangerously out of the pen by surrendering 45 hits and 19 walks over 44 innings pitched.

Dayton 5 – Cedar Rapids 4

Drew Stubbs went 2-4 with a triple, homerun, run scored, and an rbi in this error plagued contest. The two teams combined for 5 errors. Justin Turner added a homerun of his own in a 1-3 night to raise his numbers to .304/.371/.442 on the season. Eddy Rodriguez added 2 rbis to his total by going 1-3 with a single.

Ramon Geronimo picked up his 8th save of the season by allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 2 in the 9th. Geronimo has a 1.64 ERA over 44 innings pitched with 33 hits and 8 walks.

GCL Pirates 6 – GCL Reds 5

CF Justin Reed went 2-4 with a double, 2 rbis, and 2 runs scored. Reed is batting .282/.390/.376 in 85 at-bats. Kevyn Feiner also added 2 hits in 4 at-bats and scored a run.

Efrain Rodriguez was the hard-luck loser in this one. Hard-luck because he allowed 3 unearned runs thanks to 4 Reds errors. Neftali Soto committed 2 of the errors, giving him 9 this season in 21 games played. 19 year old reliever Josh Beal ran his perfect streak to 8.1 innings by pitching a scoreless .2 innings last night.
