A National League scout has been gracious enough to share some brief scouting reports on 5 of the Reds 2005 draftees. Here are his thoughts on Kyle Lotzkar(1st round, Supp): ÂÂ
RHP Kyle Lotzkar (1-S high school-Canada) was the second Canadian drafted in 2007 (Phillipe Aumont-SEA). He is a very good athlete with fluid arm action who gets good movement to his pitches. He runs his fastball up to 93 MPH and has a 79-82 MPH breaking pitch that behaves like a slurve. His change-up isn’t disguised very well and didn’t really throw it much while in high school, and his command was inconsistent. Both of those issues could be resolved by repeating his delivery more frequently. It may take him five years to reach the Majors with his future role being either a #3 starter or setup reliever.
