Louisville 5, Rochester 2 (AAA)
–23 y/o Joey Votto went 2-5 with 2 RBI, playing LF again. On the season, Votto — a Redleg Nation favorite — is hitting .314/.423/.470. Votto has certainly shaken off that early-season slump in a big way.
–27 y/o Jeff Keppinger went 2-3 as the DH.
–32 y/o Mark Bellhorn went 2-4 with a homer and 2 RBI. He’s hitting .255/.388/.443.
–29 y/o Tom Shearn went seven innings on the mound, giving up two runs on 7 H, striking out 4.
Lotsa old guys at Louisville.
Carolina 9, Chattanooga 1 (AA)
—Redleg Nation DOTF favorite Carlos Fisher got knocked around for the first time this season, giving up 5 runs in 4/1 IP. The 24 year-old Fisher’s ERA ballooned all the way up to 2.09 on the season.
–Offensively, the Lookouts got exactly one hit, a single by LF Tyrell Godwin. Bad….
Florida State League All-Star Game: East 8, West 4 (A+)
—Jay Bruce went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, as he started in LF and hit third for the Western All-Stars.
–3B Michael Griffin went 3-4 with a double and an RBI.
—Adam Rosales went 1-2.
—Johnny Cueto pitched a scoreless inning of relief, and Josh Roenicke allowed one run in his inning of work. Logan Ondrusek, on the other hand, will never forget his FSL All-Star Game experience, as he was battered around to the tune of 5 ER in one inning, surrendering 2 HR. Yes, Ondrusek was the losing pitcher in the contest. Ouch.
–Not much good to say about this drubbing, except that Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Logan Parker continued to reach base and continue his good play. The 22 year-old first baseman went 1-3 with a walk. On the season, Parker is hitting .277/.367/.353.
