Let’s see what happened yesterday, down on the farm….
Louisville 1, Rochester 0 (AAA)
—Phil Dumatrait (Boston 2000 – 1st round) ran his record to 7-4 with a brilliant 7 inning effort. Dumatrait allowed no runs on three hits.
–“Everyday” Eddie Guardado got the hold with an inning of scoreless relief. I’m very surprised that Guardado has returned from surgery so quickly, but I urge caution. I hope no one expects him to return to Cincinnati and pitch like he did last season. I think that’s expecting too m uch.
–The Bats only had four hits, so there were no offensive stars. Mark Bellhorn drove in the only run…and struck out in every other at-bat of the game.
Chattanooga 6, Carolina 4 (AA)
–23 year old first baseman Tonys Gutierrez wielded the big bat for the Lookouts, going 4-4 with a double and a run scored. On the year, Gutierrez is hitting .288/.390/.386 with 2 homers and 17 rib-eye steaks.
–27 year old left fielder Tyrell Godwin went 2-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.
Sarasota DNP (A+)
–It’s the FSL All-Star Game tonight. Eight Reds (since Johnny Cueto was added) were named to the All-Star team.
Dayton 10, West Michigan 0 (A)
—Redleg Nation Spotlight Player Logan Parker (1B) is really starting to heat up. He went 2-3 in last night’s game, with 2 walks as well. On the year, Logan is now hitting .276/.365/.354.
—Rafael Gonzalez got the win with a superb 7 inning outing, giving up no runs on 4 hits, while striking out three. Gonzalez’s record is now a sterling 9-1, with a 2.04 ERA.
–21 y/o OF Denis Phipps was 3-3 with 2 runs and 2 walks. On the season, Phipps is at .232/.288/.290.
–19 y/o 3B Juan Francisco was 2-5 with 4 RBI. He’s hitting .279/.326/.481. This kid looks like he might be a real player.
–Also with 2 hits: Redleg Nation favorite Chris Valaika (SS), Jason Louwsma (2 RBI), and C Eddy Rodriguez.
