26 year old RH INF Aaron Herr (Atl 2000-1) went 2-5 with a double, run scored, RBI, and a stolen base. He’s hitting .294/.336/.523 on the season.

23 year old LH 1B Joey Votto (2002-2) went 2-5 with 2 doubles raising his numbers to .229/.374/.390, but in May thus far he’s hitting .333/.455/.519, so he may be starting to get his legs under him at AAA.

26 year old RHP Mike Gosling (Arz 2001-2) threw 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 1 run (earned) and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts, lowering his ERA to 2.76.

Chattanooga 3 – Carolina 2 (10 innings)

24 year old RH SS Paul Janish (2004-5) went 2-5 with 2 doulbes and an RBI, raising his season’s numbers to .252/.366/.350.

23 year old RH OF Cody Strait (2004-12) went 2-5 with a double, RBI, and SB. His numbers are .220/.282/.398.

23 year old LHP Camilo Vazquez (2002-4) threw 7 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 8. He lowered his ERA to 3.20.

24 year old RHP and DOTF fav (though we’ve jinxed him lately by speaking well of him) Calvin Medlock (2002-39) had his second straight rough outing. He blew the save and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings last night, raising his ERA to 3.43.

High A

Sarasota 11 – Jupiter 10

23 year old RH INF/OF Mike Griffin (2005-14) went 4-5, scoring 3 runs and raising his numbers to .301/.329/.413.

24 year old RH C Craig Tatum (2004-3) went 3-5 with a run scored and 3 RBI’s, including the game winner. His numbers are .263/.277/.424.

21 year old RH OF Danny Dorn (2006-32) went 2-4 with a double and HR, scoring a run and had 2 RBIs. His number for the year are .214/.301/.368. He’s played better in May though, hitting .273/.368/.576.

21 year old, recently promoted, RHP Daryl Thompson was shelled in his first start in Sarasota, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 4 hits and 5 walks in 3 2/3. He gave up 2 homers.

Dayton 10 – Peoria 7

22 year old RH 2B Justin Turner (2006-7) went 4-5 with a double and homer, scoring 3 runs and knocking in 3. His number are up to .308/.379/.413. He homer cleared the Dragon’s Lair in LF.

19 year old LH 3B Juan Francisco went 3-5 with a double and homer, scoring a run and knocking in 3. His numbers are .288/.328/.559. The homer he hit looked like it was down and away and he reached out and hit it halfway up the batting eye in CF. This was hit 8th of the season and ties him for the league lead. He only had 3 homers last year in the GCL. He also had two really bad errors on back to back hitters. On one he dropped the ball getting it out of his glove and the other was a bad throw to 2B.

23 year old RH OF Gerardo Cabrera had his 3rd multihit night in a row, going 2-4. He’s raised his numbers to .318/.348/409.

22 year old RH CF Drew Stubbs (2006-1) was 1-4 with homer and a walk, scoring 1 run and knocking in 2. His numbers are .271/.341/.441. His HR hit in the last row of seats in the Dragon’s Lair in LF.

21 year old RHP Rafael Gonzalez (2004-4) didn’t have his best stuff, but still was able to give the Dragons 5 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs (1 earned, two scored in the innings when Francisco made the 2 errors). He walked two and struck out 4. His ERA is 1.87.

23 year old RHP Ramon Geronimo kept his scoreless streak alive for the season, picking up his second save. He came on in the 9th after two runs had scored, he quickly dispatched the Chiefs with a perfect 3 batters, striking out the final hitter. His ERA on the season is 0.00 and his WHIP is 1.12. He’s struck out 11 in 13 1/3 innings of work.

NOTE: Dragons manager Donnie Scott and Chiefs manager Ryne Sandberg had to be separated by the umpires during the 7th inning stretch. No idea what that was about.
