29 year old RHP Tom Shearn (Hou ’96-29) threw 7 innings, allowing 1 run (earned) on 5 hits, with no walks and 8 strikeouts, in his 6th start. He lowered his ERA to 3.12.

Reds’ 25 year old RHP Jared Burton (Oak ’02- 8), in Chattanooga on rehab, had trouble again. He threw one inning, allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. His ERA at Chattanooga is 11.81.
DOTF fav 25 year old RHP Carlos Guevara (’03- 7) threw another scoreless inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out one, lowering his ERA to 1.65.

Sarasota 4 – Palm Beach 2 (11 innings)
22 year old OF Danny Dorn (’06 – 32) (who jumped over Dayton this year, going from Billings to Sarasota) was 2-5 with a double, raising his numbers to .217/.300/.349.
24 year old C Craig Tatum (’04 – 3) went 3-5 with a double, raising his numbers to .261/.270/.443.
24 year old RHP Carlos Fisher (’05-11) threw 6 innings of 6 hit ball, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out 8. His ERA on the season is 2.20.
Low A
22 year old OF Drew Stubbs (’06-1) hit a walk off HR (4) and had a double, going 2-4 with 2 runs scored to raise his numbers to .282/.348/.447. After going through a 1-22 streak, he’s now 7 for his last 19 with 3 doubles and 2 homers.
19 year old 3B Juan Francisco (.286/.330/552) had to leave the game after being hit by a pitch (it appears from the game log). He’s having a good offensive season thus far and we hope this isn’t anything that will keep him out of lineup for long.
21 year old RHP Sean Watson (’06-2) threw another gem. 6IP 3H 0R 0 BB 9K. His ERA is down to 1.69. He has 42 strikeouts in 32 innings.
This group of players have picked up right where they left off last year in Billings, they’ve won 9 in a row (equaling a 9 game streak earlier in th year) and won 22 of their first 26 games at Dayton and lead their division by 6 games.
