JD points us to this statement by Cubs manager Dusty Baker, which may be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard:
“On-base percentage is great if you can score runs and do something with that on-base percentage,” Baker said. “On-base percentage just to clog up the bases isn’t that great to me.”
Huh?
I guess he prefers those unclogging outs.

Sounds like a stupid statement brought on by dealing with a team that has trouble driving in runners in scoring position.
