Norfolk 2, Louisville 3

Norris Hopper scored a run and went 2-5 on the night with a triple to help lead the Bats to a 1 run victory.  Brian Shackelford pitched the 8th inning last night and struck out the side.  Matt Belisle picked up the win by pitching a scoreless 9th.

AA

Chattanooga 9, Montgomery 3; final 10

The Lookouts routed Montgomery by scoring 6 runs in the extra frame.  Chris Dickerson, Rick Asadoorian, and Miguel Perez each had 3 hits on the night.

Homer Bailey struggled some on the night.  Bailey gave up 2 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 6 over 4.2 innings pitched.

High A

Clearwater 5, Sarasota 0

The night belonged to Clearwater’s Julio De La Cruz who pitched a no hitter against the Reds.  Cruz walked one and Clearwater committed 1 error.

Low A

Wisconsin 7, Dayton 5; final 14

This was a wild one.  Wisconsin scored 1 in the 9th to force extra innings.  They then scored one in the 12th only to have the Dragons tie it in the bottom half.  But 2 runs in the 14th off of Bo Lanier gave Wisconsin the win.  Dragons pitchers did combine for 17 strikeouts on the night. 

Offensively, BJ Szymanski hit his 14th homerun of the season, a solo shot in the 6th inning.

Rookie Leagues

Billings 5, Orem 4

Daniel “Don’t call me Roger” Dorn went 2-3 on the night with a double and an rbi to lead the Mustangs to the victory.  Dorn is hitting .333/.429/.500 on the season.  Of course 6 of the first 8 guys in last night’s batting order are hitting over .300 for the Mustangs.

Marcos Mateo improved to 4-0 on the year in relief by pitching 2 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 3.

GCL Reds 5, GCL Red Sox 3

Reliever Brandon Alford struck out 5 over 4 innings to pick up his 2nd win of the season.  Alford didn’t give up a hit nor a walk over those 4 innings.
