20 year-old Jordan Smith (Reds #6 – 2006) pitched 6 innings giving up just 1 H, 1 BB and 6 Ks.  For the season Smith has a 1.99 ERA with 41 K, 13 BB, and 39 BB H in 54.1 IP.

21 year-old Drew Stubbs (Reds #1 – 2006) went 1 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI.  Stubbs hasn’t shown much power yet, but his plate discipline is encouraging .247/.365/.388.  He also has 18 SB in 21 attempts.

LOW A

Fort Wayne 4, Dayton 1

25 year-old Habelito Hernandez went 3 for 4 with a 2B.  For the season he is hitting .281/.295/..392.  That’s 7 BB in 377 plate appearances.  Somebody get him a copy of “The Science of Hitting”

HIGH A

Daytona 5, Sarasota 4 11 innings

23 year-old Paul Janish (Reds #5 – 2004) went 4 for 6 with 2 2B and a 3B.  Since being promoted the Rice University product is hitting .279/.359/.428

24 year-old Chris Dickerson (Reds #16 – 2003) went 3 for 7 with 3 HR and 5 RBI in the doubleheader.  Dickerson is now hitting .244/.345/.431 with 18 steals in 24 attempts.

AAA

Charlotte 5, Louisville 4

26 year-old Steve Kelly (Reds #4 – 2001) pitched 6 innings giving up 5 H, 4 BB, and 2 ER while striking out 4.  Since being promoted the Fairfield H.S. Graduate has a 3.32 ERA with 37 K, 26 BB, 58 H in 57 IP.
