18 year-old Brandon Rice (Reds #11 – 2006) pitched 5 innings giving up 0 ER, 1 H, and 1 BB, while striking out 4.   In 24 IP this year he has a 3.33 ERA with 16 K, 7 BB and 22 H.

Burlington 10, Dayton 6

19 year-old Jay Bruce (Reds #1 – 2005) went 2 for 5 with a 2B, HR, and 4 RBI.  For the season Bruce is hitting .308/.375/.548.  Bruce, who is 1st in the MWL with a .548 SLG%, played DH last night.

Brev County 3, Sarasota 2

23 year-old Zac Stott (Reds #27 – 2003) pitched 3.1 Innings in relief giving up a H and a R.  Since being promoted Stott has a 2.53 ERA with 22 K, 10 BB, 23 H in 32 IP.

AA

Chattanooga 3, Jacksonville 1

20 year-old Homer “Yahweh” Bailey (Reds #1 – 2004) “stumbled” a bit by walking 5, but allowed just 1 H and 0 ER while striking out 5.  Since being promoted Bailey now has a 1.14 ERA with 48 K, 15 BB, and 31 H in 47 IP.   Thats a WHIP under 1.00 folks!!  Yeehaw.

AAA

Louisville 5, Indianapolis 0

35 year-old Chris Michalak pitched 7 stellar innings giving up just 3 H and 2 BB while striking out 5.  For the season Michalak has a 2.99 ERA with 61 K, 28 BB, and 142 H in 132 Innings.

    the chat paper had a thing on johnny almarez being at the game last night, and he reported that homer hasn’t finished working on the goals they set for him, and will finish the season at AA.

    i wouldn’t mind seeing a sept. call up to have him in the pen actually. A la papelbon last year. but i can see shutting him down too.
