Brandon Claussen made the start for the Bats and strung together a decent outting. Claussen threw 6 innings, allowing all 3 earned runs on 6 hits while walking 3. He didn’t record a strikeout on the night. He only threw 82 pitches, 57 of them for strikes.

West Tennessee 6, Chattanooga 4

Luis Bolivar went 1-4 with a double and drove in 2 rbis to lead the Lookouts offensively. Bolivar is hitting .262/.311/.326 on the year. Not very impressive for the undrafted free agent by the Giants in 1999.

Tyler Pelland got a no decision by going 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, 4 walks, and striking out 7. Carlos Guevera blew the save in the 9th by allowing 3 runs on 3 hits.

High A

Sarasota 3, Palm Beach 8

Jay Garthwaite went 2-3 on the night including a 2 run homer and a single. Jay is now hitting .256/.307/.470 on the season.

Catcher Anthony Esquer, the Reds 24th round draft pick in 2006, went 2-2 with 2 runs scored, a double, and 2 walks. In 51 ABs, Esquer is batting .294/.368/.333.

Reds 2nd round pick, Sean Watson, pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 1 hit, 2 strikeouts, and 2 walks. In 23.2 innings, Watson has a 1.52 ERA with 19 strikeouts and just 5 walks. He has also surrendered only 16 hits.

GCL Reds 11, GCL Twins 4

Luckily our Gulf Coast affiliate kept the Reds from being swept at all levels yesterday. Milton Loo had a great game, going 3-5 with 2 doubles, a HR, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Eddy Rodriguez had a nice game as well, going 2-5 with a double, HR, 2 rbis, and a run scored. Rodriguez was the Reds 20th round pick in 2006.
