21 year-old Drew Stubbs (Reds #1 – 2006) went 3 for 5 with a 2B.  Stubbs is now hitting .272/.377/.379.   20 year-old Chris Valaika (Reds #3 – 2006) went 2 for 5 with a HR and 2 RBI.  For the season Valaika is now hitting .303/.365/.505.

GCL Red Sox 3, GCL Reds 2

20 year-old Daryl Thompson (Nationals #8 – 2003) who will hopefully be the principle in the infamous Kearns/Lopez trade pitched his first 3.2 innings in the Reds organization with flying colors.  He gave up just 1 BB, 2 H while striking out 5.   In 3 seasons as a VERY young minor leaguer he has a 3.96 ERA with 145 K, 65 BB, 212 H in 202 IP.

LOW A

West Michigan 4, Dayton 2

19 year-old Jay Bruce (Reds #1 – 2005) went 2 for 4.  Bruce, who leads the MWL with a .937 OPS is now hitting .314/.383/.554

HIGH A

Vero Beach 9, Sarasota 5

25 year-old Jeremiah Piepkorn went 4 for 4 with a 2B and 2 R.  Piepkorn is now hitting .257/.292/.415.

AA

Chattanooga 6, Jacksonville 1

22 year-old Tyler Pelland (Red Sox #9 – 2002) pitched 5.2 innings giving up 2 H, and 3 BB while striking out 3.  For the season Pelland has a 3.35 ERA with 75 K, 61 BB, 102 H in 102 IP.  Those have to be the worst peripherals I have ever seen with a 3.35 ERA.

AAA

Buffalo 12, Louisville 6

90 year-old Paul Wilson (Mets #1 -1994) pitched 5 innings. gving up just 9 H, 3 HR, 9 R, and 4 ER.  He now has a 4.91 ERA with 3 Ks, 1 BB, 15 H, 4 HR in 11 IP at Louisville.  I would say he is about ready for the bigs.  I would like to see those HR up a bit.
