In a recent AA Chattanooga game against Jacksonville, light hitting outfielder Rick Asadoorian, who turns 26 years old in a few weeks, was called on to pitch in the 12th inning as the Lookouts had run out of pitchers. Asadoorian put up the following line in picking up the win:

Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
Asadoorian 2.0 2 0 0 0 5 0 0.00

Not only does the boxscore line look good, but apparently, so did he as reported in the Jackson Sun:

Running out of pitchers in extra innings, the Lookouts brought in outfielder Rick Asadoorian to throw in the 12th inning. Asadoorian didn’t disappoint as he struck out the side and topped out at 95 mph.

Asadoorian finished with five strikeouts in two innings to pick up the win.

Given his age (26), level (Third consecutive season at primarily AA.), and his career minor league hitting line of .246 BA, .312 OBP, .376 SLG, and 688 OPS. I think it’s high time to put his 95 MPH arm out on the hill full time before it’s time for him to hang up the spikes.

What’s to lose for him or the Reds?
