Louisville 5- Columbus 1

The 35 year old lefthander Chris Michalak went 7.2 innings giving up 1 run on 9 hits and no walks to get the win.

Jesse Gutierrez and Aaron Herr were both 2 for 4 with a double. Herr was the DH in his first game with AAA Louisville. Herr was just called up from AA Chattanooga where he put up a 861 OPS in 296 ABs playing 3B. The 28 year old Gutierrez is quietly putting up a solid .841 OPS in his first season at AAA. Jeff Bannon added a two run homer in the second inning to get the scoring started.

AA

West Tennessee 3 – Chattanooga 1

Two of the three runs that Edward Valdez surrendered were earned. The 26 year old righthander took the loss to go 5-4 with a 3.49 ERA for the season giving up 8 hits and 3 walks over 6.2 innings.

Joey Votto upped his OPS to 1003 by going 2 for 4 with a double. Light hitting, 22 year old catcher, Miguel Perez was also 2 for 4 with a double to raise his OPS to whopping 605.

High A

Sarasota and Fort Myers game was Postponed.

Low A

Dayton 6 – Quad Cities 3

23 year old righthander Carlos Fisher was a bit on the wild side and did not factor into the decision giving up 6 hits, 5 walks, 3 runs, two of them earned over 6.2 innings.

DeJesus, Bruce, Szymanski, and Rosales all singled twice in four ABs. Bruce’s OPS is now at 945. The 23 year old Adam Rosales continues to struggle this season after his demotion to A Dayton. He now has a 669 OPS in 76 ABs at Dayton after putting up a 690 OPS in 122 ABs at A+ Sarasota.

Rookie Leagues

Helena 6 – Billings 5

Billings pitchers walked 8 batters on the night. Luis Moya came on to relieve in the bottom of the ninth with a 5-5 score after the first two batters waked and singled. He proceeded to walk the next two batters to give up the winning run.

Chris Valaika and Logan Parker each had two hits in the loss. Parker’s OPS now stands at 992.

GCL Reds and GCL Red Sox game was Postponed.
