Columbus 6 – Louisville 5 (11 innings)

35 year old Chris Michalak threw 6 innings of 7 hit, 2 run baseball, but 28 year old Scott Chiasson blew the save in the 9th by giving up 2 runs. After pitching a scoreless 10th, recently re-signed 30 year old Jake Robbins gave up a run in the 11th and took the loss.

Edwin Encarnacion, in Louisville on a rehab assignment, went 3-5 with a double.

The big blow of the day was again by Jesse Gutierrez, who had a 3 run homer (his 7th) in the Bats 5 run 7th inning.

AA

Chattanooga 4 – Jacksonville 0

20 year old Homer Bailey (Reds #1 pick – ’04) continued his hot start at AA, throwing 5 more scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 9. In 17 innings at Chattanooga, he’s yet to allow a run, and only 7 hits, walking 4 and striking out 22.

28 year old Carlo Alvarado threw 2 hitless innings, striking out 2 and 25 year old Jon Coutlangus finished the shutout for the Lookouts with 2 scoreless innings.

24 year old Chris Dickerson (Reds 16th pick – ’03) had 2 hits (double, walk), 25 year old Luis Bolivar was 2-3 with a walk, and DOTF favorite, Joey Votto (Reds #2 pick – ’02 draft) was 2-3 with a walk. Votto’s numbers have gone up to .324/.397/.578.

23 year old Carlos Fisher (Reds #11th pick – ’05) threw 6 innings, allowing 8 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5. 24 year old Justin Mallett threw 2 hitless innings to get to pick up his 3rd save.

19 year old Jay Bruce (Reds #1 pick – ’05) was 2-3 with a walk, raising his numbers to .313/.370/560. He is near the top of the leaderboard in the MWL in a number of categories. He’s first in doubles, and slugging percentage. He’s 2nd in total bases, he’s 3rd in OPS, and 6th in average.

25 year old Habilto Hernandez was 2-5. 24 year old Bobby Mosby (Reds 25th pick – ’02) was 1-2 with a HR and 2 walks, raising his numbers to .258/.331/.458.

Great Falls 7 – Billings 6 (10 innings)
Billings scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th to take the lead, but 20 year old Terrell Young (Reds #10 pick – ’04) couldn’t close the door, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and a walk without recording an out in the bottom of the inning. 23 year old Kyle Huddy threw 3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 2.

DOTF fav, Logan Parker (Reds 12th pick – ’06) was 2-6, including a 2 run double in the 10th, to raise his numbers to .405/.543/.541. Another DOTF fav, Chris Heisey (Reds 17th pick – ’06) had a 2 run homer, his numbers now stand at .447/.543/.579. Justin Turner (Reds #7 pick – ’06) had 3 hits, including a double and 2 walks, raising his numbers to .385/.500/.462. Jason Louwsma (Reds #29 pick – ’06) was 2-5, raising his numbers to .289/.327/.400.
