You know, I’m watching the 1975 World Series DVD boxed set right now (go enter the contest to win one of your very own now), and something has occurred to me:

As Reds fans, we’ve collectively underrated George Foster. What a nice player he was, and extremely fun to watch. If he hadn’t played with Bench, Morgan, Rose and Perez, he may have been considered a bigger star.

Another question that occurred to me: what did the Reds do in the early seventies to ruin two Hall of Fame-caliber arms? Don Gullett and Gary Nolan were on their way to brilliant careers when they just broke down. Sad, really.
