Louisville 4 – Rochester 1

Twenty three year old Justin Germano threw 7 2/3 innings of 7 hit, 1 run baseball to lead the Bats to the win. Chris Denorfia was 2-2, raising his numbers to .341/.403/.442.

AA

Carolina 2 – Chattanooga 1

Chattanooga had their 3 game winning streak snapped and lost for only the 5th time in their last 20 games. 22 year old Travis Chick threw 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 6. He allowed 2 runs, 1 earned. Joey Votto had two hits, a stolen base, and his league leading 47th RBI of the season. Votto leads the league in HR and RBI and is 3rd in batting average. His numbers are .318/.388/.565.

High A

Sarasota 9 – Tampa 8

25 year old Phil Gentry drove in the winning run in the 10th, with his second hit of the game and 23 year old Paul Janish had 3 hits, including a double and homer to raise his numbers since his promotion to Sarasota to .270/.348/.357.

Low A

South Bend 1 – Dayton 0

Zach Ward threw 8 shutout innings for the Dragons, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 7, lowering his ERA on the season to 2.60. One the season he has allowed only 52 hits in 79 2/3 innings, while striking out 73. Recently demoted from Sarasota, Adam Rosales had 2 hits (including a triple) for the Dragons and BJ Szymanski had 3 hits. The loss went to undrafted FA Justin Mallett, who recently returned from the suspended list.

Rookie Ball

Billings 7 – Great Falls 6

Billy Rojo singled and scored in the 9th to give Billings a 7-6 win. He had two hits on the night. Also having two hits were Jason Louswsma, #1 draft pick Drew Stubbs, and Logan Parker (an early DOTF favorite with his early .643/.706/.939 start).

GCL Reds 4 – GCL Red Sox 1

Lee Tabor threw 3 impressive shutout innings, giving up one hit and chalking up 2 K’s, picking up the win. 24 year old Jose Rojas picked up his 3rd save for the rookie Reds.

    Stubbs scored from 2B on a wild pitch last night… that is some great speed. He’s also starting to hit the ball hard, a triple in each of his last two games.

    Got to expect that he and Parker will be in Dayton before too long.

    Zach Ward really needs a promotion. I’d like to see him pushed to AA.
