23 year-old Javon Moran went 3 for 3 with 2 R and miraculously a BB! I say miraculously because that was his first BB in 49 plate appearances at Chattanooga. He is now hitting .333/.347/.417 after he hitting .372/.417/.419 with 2 BB at Sarasota.
22 year-old Joey “SHR” (Scott Hatteberg Replacement) Votto went 2 for 4 with a 3B, a R, and an RBI. Votto, the 2nd round pick in 2002 is now hitting .310/.385/.528. With Hatteberg playing well (and cheap) there isn’t a need to rush Votto, but he certainly is someone that the DOTF would like to see in Cincinnati.
26 year-old Steve Kelly, from Fairfield High School just north of Cincinnati, pitched 7 IP giving up 8 H, and an ER, with 4 Ks. The 4th round pick from the 2001 draft now has a 2.94 ERA with 50 ks and 21 BB in 67 IP.
20 year-old Homer Bailey pitched another gem. The 1st round pick from the 2004 draft threw 7 IP giving up just 1 H, 1 BB and 0 ER. For the season Bailey now has a 3.53 ERA with 71 K, 22 BB, and 46 H in 63.2 IP.
23 year-old SS, Paul Janish went 0 for 1 with a R and 3 BB. Since being promoted to Sarasota Janish is now hitting .278/.364/.398 in 62 PAs after hitting .398/.435/.612 in 105 PAs at Dayton.
20 year-old Johnny Cueto had his first “rough” outing in recent memory. Cueto tossed 5 IP giving up 8 H, 2 BB with 4 Ks. He now has a 3.10 ERA with 67 K, 9 BB, 39 H in 58 IP.
