Pawtucket 0, Louisville 4

The Bats used four pitchers in the game who threw a combined 4-hit shutout. Michael Gosling got the start and a no decision. He gave up all 4 hits over 5.1 innings pitched. He also surrenedered 1 walk while striking out 4. His ERA dropped to 3.91 on the year. Brad Salmon improved to 2-0 on the season by pitching 1.2 innings while striking out 2. In the Reds farm system, Salmon now has 38 strikeouts in 34.1 innings pitched.

Ray Olmedo had another nice game at the plate, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Andy Abad hit his 4th homerun of the season in a 1-3 night. Abad also drove in 2 runs as did Earl Snyder.


Montgomery 3, Chattanooga 4

Tyler Pelland improved to 4-1 on the season by going 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and 1 walk. Tyler struck out 6 in lowering his ERA to 3.36. It appears Pelland still has some control issues as he’s allowed 34 walks compared to 44 strikeouts. David Shafer recorded his 16th save of the season by pitching a perfect 9th. Shafer struck out 2 to raise his total to 23Ks in 20 IP.

Joey Votto and Dewayne Wise each went 2-4 in the game with a run scored. Votto drove in RBI number 28 as well.

High A

Jupiter 6, Sarasota 2

Jim Paduch fell to 3-2 by allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2. He got very little bullpen support in keeping the game close. Abe Woody was roughed up in 1.2 innings pitched where he gave up 5 hits and a walk which resulted in 3 Jupiter runs scored.

Paul Janish hit his first homerun with Sarasota since being called up from Dayton earlier. The homerun was Paul’s only hit in a 1-3 night at the plate. Janish is hitting .283/.339/.396 thus far in 14 games in Sarasota.

Low A

Beloit 1, Dayton 12

The Dragons took a page out of the Reds recent book by racking up some runs over a short time frame. The Dragons scored 7 in the 5th and 5 in the 6th to take this game easily. Brandon Szymanski went 3-5 and hit his 9th homerun of the season. Brandon also drove in 2 giving him 36 on the year. Michael Griffin hit his 18th and 19th doubles of the season in a 3-5 night. Habelito Hernandez had a triple and a single in a 2-4 night that saw him drive in 3 rbis.

Zachary Ward improved to 4-0 thanks in part to the offensive support. However Ward needed very little help. Ward gave up 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings. Ward didn’t walk a batter and struck out 4.
