AAA
23 year-old Venezuelan William Bergolla went 3 fo 4 with an RBI. For the season Bergolla is hitting .281/.305/.377.
Another refugee from the Jim “leather pants” Bowden era, Dane Sardinha went 2 for 3 with his first 2B of the year. The 27 year-old Hawaiin native is hitting .181/.213/.236. Unfortunately for Dane his minor league career is littered with years like this.
AA
22 year-old Canadian Joey Votto went 1 for 4 with a solo-HR. Votto, the 2nd round pick in the 2002 draft is hitting .279/.360/.455. For the counting stat fans he has 9 2B, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 20 BB, 37 Ks in 174 plate appearances.
HIGH A
24 year-old Rich Gardner made his 2006 debut. The Reds’ 6th round pick from 2003 went 3 Innings giving up 1 ER, 1 H, and 4 BB. Gardner struck out 3.
23 year-old Drew Anderson a “DOTF” regular, went 1 for 4 with a BB. On the season, the 2nd baseman from THE Ohio State is hitting .305/.372/.518. With a 27 year-old non-prospect Javier Colina the only thing blocking Anderson’s path to Chattanooga, I would think Krivsky would want to see if he can do this in AA.
LOW A
20 year-old Johnny Cueto had another absolutely dominating start. The 5’10” 192 lb Dominacan tossed 7 innings allowing just 1 H, and 0 ER he recorded 7 strikeouts. He has given up just one hit in his last 12 IP. For the season the undrafted free agent has a 2.92 ERA with 52 Ks in 40 IP. Amazingly he has walked just 6!!
19 year-old Jay Bruce went 2 for 3 with a 3B, a HR, and 3 RBI. Last year’s #1 pick, who is now back in centerfield is now hitting .289/.347/.592.
Dayton 4, Fort Wayne 3 game 2
22 year-old
Zach Ward a 6’5″ right hander went 5.2 innings giving up 2 H, 2 ER, and a BB while striking out 9. For the season he has a 3.89 ERA with 27 Ks, 14 BB in 34.2 IP.
Big night for Reds prospects. Hell, even Sardinha made the highlights.
